PANIC AND DISARRAY AT QUINN PLASTICS AFTER DEPARTURE OF CHIEF EXECUTIVE.

News of the sudden departure of the Chief Executive of Quinn Plastics,Charles Shaw, added to the strong belief that things are completely falling apart at Quinn Group, under the current regime.

Was he pushed, or did he jump in the knowledge that the company is now in total disarray?  Sources claim that Mr Shaw did not want to be captain of the now certain sinking ship, which has deteriorated at a alarming rate in the last two and a half years, with losses of the current year estimated to exceed 10 million when depreciation, interest and overheads are included. The contrast could not be more stark with how the company performed under the experienced, knowledgeable and trusted stewardship of Sean Quinn. What a difference a few years can make.

Employees in their droves, are now questioning why it is not Paul O'Brien who resigned, after all the disasters on his watch, and the exorbitant salary of one million and eighty nine thousand that he has taken for one years (work?,) for destroying these companies. It is ironic and indicative of bad management that a massive PR campaign was undertaken at considerable cost to the company, just a few short months ago when Management decided to change the name of a company when THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN TRYING TO STEER THE SHIP TO SAFETY.

Did we ever hear or witness Sean Quinn blowing his own trumpet when he built factory after factory, and created thousands upon thousands of jobs? No, we did not. He was far too busy running and growing the company and creating jobs. One of the last interviews that he did, (in fact one of the few interviews that he did) before the crash, which featured on the front of a local newspaper, detailed how it was not only his wish, but it was his firm commitment to create more jobs, particularly for young men in their twenties who were so neglected in the area of employment. Sean Quinn was, and is a visionary, and how right he was about the lack of employment opportunities for this age group in the border counties. This week we had CONFIRMATION THAT OUR COMMUNITIES ARE NOW THE SECOND WORST IN THE COUNTRY, IN TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT. What a shocking indictment it is that the one man who could resolve this situation, is prevented from taking any part in saving the companies that he built and the thousands of jobs that he created, while our  families, our neighbours, our communities watch in disbelief as this travesty is being facilitated.
His plan to create 1600 additional  jobs was at an advanced stage when the companies were seized from his family PRIOR to the legitimacy of alleged debt being established in a court of law and the rest is history. Instead of our parishes, our counties, benefiting from the creation of 1600 additional jobs, we are witnessing the greatest ever destruction of our communities, with the loss of thousands of jobs to date relating to the ruination of the Quinn companies.

Meanwhile, the Cement factory is continuing to annoy and pollute the local community with white dust, as the clinker store is now in its third month without a roof.
