Quinn’s pub in Drumcondra: closed after for two days after a dead rat and sewage were found on the cellar floor
A rat, sewage, dirty toilet paper and cockroach infestations were among the unsavoury discoveries at Irish food businesses in 2014.

Health inspectors took action against dozens of restaurants, pubs, shops and manufacturing facilities that were posing a threat to public health this year - and documents obtained under the Freedom of Information act reveal the grimy reasons why.
Landmark Dublin pub Quinn's in Drumcondra was served with a closure order on September 8 - two days after the All-Ireland hurling final, when it would have been packed with sports fans - when a dead rat was found on the floor of the cellar.
Rat droppings and dry sewage were also found on the cellar floor, where foodstuffs such as bottled drinks were stored.
A prohibition order banning the sale of these items was also imposed because of a serious risk they had been contaminated by rats or raw sewage.
Surfaces in the back bar were also filthy, with filth, grime and bottle tops on the floor, while there was dried sewage waste, such as pieces of toilet tissue, on the main cellar floor.
"Dirty toilet paper from overflowed sewage is evident on a manhole cover in the main cellar and at other locations," the report stated.
Meanwhile, door seals on the bottle fridges were "in an appalling condition and many are covered in extensive mould growth", it said.

CELEBRATIONS AT QUINN RETURN
There was unbridled rejoicing and emotion at Quinn headquarters this morning as the loathed Aventas signs were taken down, indicating the arrival of QBRC at last! Thousands of people are annoyed that they were not informed about what was taking place but only those on site knew and news only spread locally. Sean Quinn reluctantly succumbed to numerous requests to come and join the celebrations and his eventual arrival was met with great acclaim.
However while local communities are celebrating the return of Sean Quinn to business in the area there is continued evidence of spite, pettiness and begrudgery by Aventas. Yesterday a so-called security guy arrived at Quinn Group offices, ran upstairs, locked the doors, returned to his vehicle and away he went. These offices are still locked today. Why? What is Paul pretending? No deal done? A last bit of power? Paul, how contemptible!
Obviously even their own are not trusted by O Brien and his men. It was very interesting that John Mc Nally's computer was removed on Friday--- to be wiped of all evidence of sales or gifts of machinery. Of course, when questioned it was a mistake! They make so many mistakes; the past three years were one big litany of mistakes.
There is a constant effort to thwart the efforts of the new management; on Friday last P. Murphy, who left with a big “Handshake” a few weeks ago, was distributing leaflets advocating joining the union. There was never a need for a union in Quinn's time and none of us saw much advantage to its introduction in recent months; they seemed to support management rather than workers when our colleagues in Elton went on strike.
There are so many obstacles to be overcome by the new management and uncertainty comes from many angles. Last week, Minister Foster's husband was seen casually dressed in a Lafarge top. Can Quinn Group expect much support from that particular minister? Today the PSNI responded to a complaint by Aventas management that trespassers were in their premises even though the deal was already finalised. However it was an amicable meeting.
For over 3 years the Quinn family have kept their cool; they have persevered against all obstacles and are pushing forward with their case in renewed confidence. Today we rejoice at Sean Quinn's new role and wish him every blessing and luck. We look forward with enthusiasm to 2015 with our new managers.

One of the most respected Sales Directors on the Island of Ireland (Paddy Mohan) will lead the new Sales Team in rebuilding The Quinn Group.

Celebrations all round.

Kevin and John

Two of the men that made today the start of great years ahead for the Border Community.
John spoke out after the Ballinamore Rally  where Sean Quinn was guest speaker. He was not afraid to say what was right and we need men like him in politics (business men) not teachers, lawyers and barristers as our politicians. They have their own place in society but  the further they stay away from politics the better for us all.
Well done boys.

Sean Quinn Has Entered the Building

Welcome Home Sean. When you were a boy you played in the field where this building is now.

Build IT High That They Can Never Knock It Down Again

Quinn to begin role as adviser to manufacturing group bearing family name

Seán Quinn, the former billionaire and head of the Quinn Group conglomerate, is to make his comeback in Irish business this week as a paid adviser to a new manufacturing business headed by a number of his former executives.
A consortium of local businessmen in the border area including Fine Gael councillor John McCartin and former Quinn Group chief executive Liam McCaffrey, known as Quinn Business Retention Company (QBRC), has acquired certain assets from the former Group.
Sean Quinn is poised to make a return to the new Quinn manufacturing business, which has been bought by a consortium of local businessmen and supporters
Earlier this year, QBRC signed a memorandum of understanding with the former Quinn Group — rebranded Aventas since its takeover by the Irish Bank Resolution Company (IBRC) — for the sale of the packaging and construction supplies business and had been undertaking due diligence on the transaction before closing the reported €90m deal.
“We are delighted to have reached an agreement with Aventas for the acquisition of the [construction industry supplies] and packaging businesses we are excited with the prospect of returning of these businesses that we had previously worked in and managed,” Mr McCaffrey said in July.
Mr Quinn’s level of remuneration has not been disclosed and at present he is the only member of the Quinn family that has been approached to get involved with the newly named Quinn Industrial Holdings Ltd, according to reports over the weekend.
The new company is hoping to capitalise on the support that Mr Quinn has given it to date and encourage him to help in every way, according to the reports.
Quinn Industrial Holdings was registered as a company in November 2014, according to documents filed to the Companies Registration Office.
In addition to Mr McCartin who will be a non-executive board member and Mr McCaffrey, the new company’s chief executive; former Quinn Group finance director, Dara O’Reilly and former Group development director, Kevin Lunney are also set to return to play a part in the running of the business.
Mr McCaffrey recently signalled the consortium’s intent to return the Quinn name to the Irish business landscape saying that there is currently an issue with the use of the name Quinn Group and as such Quinn Industrial Holdings would be the company’s name until such time as the original name could be restored.
Aventas staff moved out of the company’s headquarters on Friday with the new owners set to move in today.
Having built his business empire over decades, Mr Quinn lost it all during the financial crash with IBRC’s decision to appoint administrators and eject Quinn and his family from their business in 2011 meeting with strong opposition from members of the public in counties such as Cavan and Fermanagh — strongholds of the former Group.
