CELEBRATIONS AT QUINN RETURN
There was unbridled rejoicing and emotion at Quinn headquarters this morning as the loathed Aventas signs were taken down, indicating the arrival of QBRC at last! Thousands of people are annoyed that they were not informed about what was taking place but only those on site knew and news only spread locally. Sean Quinn reluctantly succumbed to numerous requests to come and join the celebrations and his eventual arrival was met with great acclaim.
However while local communities are celebrating the return of Sean Quinn to business in the area there is continued evidence of spite, pettiness and begrudgery by Aventas. Yesterday a so-called security guy arrived at Quinn Group offices, ran upstairs, locked the doors, returned to his vehicle and away he went. These offices are still locked today. Why? What is Paul pretending? No deal done? A last bit of power? Paul, how contemptible!
Obviously even their own are not trusted by O Brien and his men. It was very interesting that John Mc Nally's computer was removed on Friday--- to be wiped of all evidence of sales or gifts of machinery. Of course, when questioned it was a mistake! They make so many mistakes; the past three years were one big litany of mistakes.
There is a constant effort to thwart the efforts of the new management; on Friday last P. Murphy, who left with a big “Handshake” a few weeks ago, was distributing leaflets advocating joining the union. There was never a need for a union in Quinn's time and none of us saw much advantage to its introduction in recent months; they seemed to support management rather than workers when our colleagues in Elton went on strike.
There are so many obstacles to be overcome by the new management and uncertainty comes from many angles. Last week, Minister Foster's husband was seen casually dressed in a Lafarge top. Can Quinn Group expect much support from that particular minister? Today the PSNI responded to a complaint by Aventas management that trespassers were in their premises even though the deal was already finalised. However it was an amicable meeting.
For over 3 years the Quinn family have kept their cool; they have persevered against all obstacles and are pushing forward with their case in renewed confidence. Today we rejoice at Sean Quinn's new role and wish him every blessing and luck. We look forward with enthusiasm to 2015 with our new managers.
