QUINN GROUP EMPLOYEES ALERT.

It appears that the roof is literally being sold over the head of the QG employees. The sale of Quinn Cement is reported to be at an advanced stage while Management continues to make fools of the employees.
Reports are reaching us ( I stress reports, as it is difficult to confirm all the info. that is coming our way), that all kinds of bullyboy and disgraceful coercive tactics are being employed to prevent the workers from doing something drastic to stand up for themselves and show up Management for what they really are.

Today, it has been reported that a man who has been employed in Quinn Group for a long time but who now is on the CEVA team was allegedly heard talking to a member of CEVA staff implying that invoices, dockets etc could not have CEVA on them YET. Why? Is it because he thinks that he can fool the drivers into thinking that they actually have a 90 day consultation period when in fact the deal is done and the 90 day period means absolutely NOTHING.? Is it also the case that this man has been offered any money he wants "to get drivers on side" as allegedly reported by a family member.

We are also hearing that the Union has conceded that they can do nothing about this travesty. IT IS ABSOLUTELY CLEAR THAT THE TIME HAS COME FOR THE WORKERS TO DEMAND ANSWERS AND ACTION. While it should be possible to set up some kind of Employees Forum whereby a letter should be sent to Paul O'Brien and all the senior managers plus the Board to demand answers that they, as representatives of the employees, would be entitled to have answered eg what plans are underway or are being planned in regard to the future of the Quinn Group and the future of the employees, it is crystal clear that more drastic action must be taken if everything is not to be lost. Quinn employees have a RIGHT to be informed. We understand that QBRC are happy to answer questions so why is current Management acting like rats in a corner trying to dispose of the greatest asset that this region has, particularly since the QBRC bid became public?

Paul O'Brien and Co MUST NOT be allowed to dismantle our greatest asset while he walks away a wealthy man. Would the people of Dublin allow this? I think we all know the answer to that. QBRC has made a courageous move to try to safeguard the jobs and restore the Quinn Group to profitability and THEY DESERVE THE SUPPORT AND ASSISTANCE OF THE WORKERS, AND EVERYONE WHO REALLY CARES ABOUT JOBS, TO ENSURE THAT THEY ACTUALLY GET AN OPPORTUNITY TO PROCEED WITH THEIR PROPOSAL. THEY HAVE A VIABLE PLAN THAT CAN WORK AND WILL WORK, IF THE EMPLOYEES DEMAND THAT THEY GET A FAIR CHANCE. THEY CANNOT BID UNTIL THEY SEE THE BOOKS AND TO DATE, THAT HAS BEEN ALELGEDLY DENIED THEM. PERHAPS, THEY WILL GO TO THE BONDHOLDERS TO GET THE ANSWERS BUT IN THE MEANTIME, HOW MUCH MORE IRREVERSABLE DAMAGE WILL BE DONE BY THOSE WHO HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO REGARD FOR THE WORKERS.

AS PREVIOULSY STATED, CIC STAND FULL SQUARE BEHIND THE WORKERS AND ARE READY , WILLING AND ABLE TO DO WHATEVER IT TAKES. It is no secret that a very tiny minority of less informed and perhaps more selfish people complained about losing half a day's pay in the past when there was disruption at the Quinn Group. How this must suit the million euro man and his cronies. How he must be laughing at them. We would ask those people today how they WILL feel in the near future when their jobs are gone completely. We will soon find out.

THERE IS EXTRAORDINARY POWER IN NUMBERS AND IF THE EMPLOYEES DECIDE TO ACT IN UNISON NOW WITH COURAGE TO DO SOMETHING DRASTIC TO SEND THE MESSAGE LOUD AND CLEAR THAT THEY WILL NOT BE MADE MUGS OF, WE MAY JUST SAVE THE QUINN GROUP AND GIVE QBRC A CHANCE TO SAVE ALL THE JOBS AND CREATE MORE. The choice is ours TODAY. Tomorrow may be too late.
