QUINN GLASS PREPARES FOR STRIKE.
It appears that Glass Management are very aware that what they are doing is wrong, wrong, wrong and is totally contrary to local opinion and common interest.
Glass stocks are being moved to a warehouse in County Antrim as a buffer stock in anticipation of strike/blockades. Are the workers going to accept their jobs being stolen from under their nose?
Redundancies in Radiators in Newport (Wales) yesterday should be a stark warning to Glass workers. It did not take Barlow (new owners) long to dispose of workers. It is almost certain that the new furnace in Glass will not be rebuilt under outside ownership and why would they not just remove the machinery to a location where there is better infrastructure? They would have absolutely no allegiance to either the workforce or the region.
Quinn Glass is the jewel in the crown, the most prized asset in this region. It is bread and butter for Glass workers.
We all know what the solution is. One has only to look on the glowing faces of QBRC staff since Christmas. Glass workers deserve the same.
We will support them and be there in whatever they decide to do to prevent this bare faced looting of their jobs. We encourage as many as possible to come to Ballyconnell Community Centre this coming Monday 12th Jan. at 8pm.
