1.1 BILLION IN CASH AND 450 MILLION IN ASSETS MISSING !

Well Sean Quinn has been blamed for everything from the bankrupting of the State to the weather but the latest (and not the last) jobs cull is one situation that he cannot be blamed for (although the same idiots will probably try). The fact is that Sean Quinn left behind him at his Insurance Company 1.1 BILLION EUROS IN CASH AND 450 MILLION EUROS WORTH OF ASSETS on the day that Matthew Elderfield pounced based on what we now know was an erroneous or deliberate misinterpretation of alleged cross guarantees. We in CIC have repeatedly asked the Central Bank for a copy of the legal/professional advice this non professional presumably sought, prior to pressing the nuclear button that destroyed this region. It's now time for our public representatives to get these answers and stand up for the people that they represent. It is over 4 years since a delegation from the area who met Shane Ross was told "Why are your local TD's not jumping up and down about this?".

Where is the money and the assets now? These are just some of the questions that must be addressed in a full independent inquiry. This is the most devastating scandal both in terms of job losses (over 3000 direct jobs lost to date in former Quinn companies) and cost to the State in monetary terms (How much has ANGLO/IBRC spend in legal fees etc-another question that we have been denied answers to).

Surely, everyone must know now that a serious mistake was made. John McCartin is a hero with the people of this region and was not afraid to mention the name "Quinn" as if if was a dirty word as so many other politicians seem to believe. People are now queuing up to shake hands with Sean Quinn wherever he goes and still many of our public representatives shy away and sit on the fence. They know that a grave injustice was done both to the Quinn family and the people of this area but they appear to be afraid that the massive PR propaganda campaign by IBRC worked and that idiots believed it. Well the people in this area are not idiots and they do not, and never did believe it. The respect shown to John McCartin is testimony to where their gratitude lies. There is some hope and expectation now that a few of our representatives are going to act but we appeal to them to do so NOW.

It is as plain as the nose on ones face that the IBRC strategy on Quinn DESTROYED THE INSURANCE BUSINESS, DESTROYED THE MANUFACTURING BUSINESS AND USED THE PROCEEDS FROM THE RENT/SALE OF THE QUINN PROPERTIES TO TRY TO BURY THE QUINNS TO DEFLECT FROM WHERE THE REAL BLAME LIES.

Where did the money form the sale/rent of Quinn property in Russia, in Turkey, in the Czech Republic go? Where did the money from the sale/rent of the Dublin pubs go? We know for example that Quinns in Drumcondra was making a profit of 300,000 a year and that profit changed to a loss of 100,000 for a year under these gurus (who went with sledge hammers at 5am in the morning to remove the tenants), who are supposed to be getting best value for the taxpayers. What a joke! The pub has since been closed due to an infestation of rats (the rats infestation was not confined to the Quinn pubs as we all know in this region, even if the rats were of a different breed). Even Paul O'Brien thought it was a joke when he laughed on Prime Time saying that the return to the State in this strategy was "always going to be zero".

It's very simple really. We need and indeed we DESERVE answers. Quinn Direct was employing 2800 when it was seized from the Quinn family. How many does it employ today and more importantly, how many will Liberty employ in a years time in Cavan and Enniskillen? Why is there a call of anything from 1.3 to 1.6 billion euros from the Insurance Compensation Fund when the administrators conceded on numerous occasions before a High Court Judge that the company was profitable and would not need any propping up.

It is reported that Quinn Building Products has made more of a profit in the six months since Sean Quinn returned and created more that 50 additional jobs,than the whole of last year under these Gurus, while Liberty has cut 270 jobs since Christmas and the cull is not over yet. Can it be any more clear?

We are hopeful that some of our Public Representatives will act in the best interest of those they represent and take a leaf out of John McCartin's book. The voters of this area do not need words of sympathy:they need action and NOTHING SHORT OF A FULL INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATION WILL SUFFICE.
