The difference with Quinn

The difference with Quinn - Letters, Opinion - Independent.ie

Sir -- Can someone tell me what is the difference between Sean Quinn's debt to Anglo and that of the unsecured bond holders, other than that Mr Quinn is a soft touch from the North and not part of the Dublin set, and if you had money to invest, you would trust Mr Quinn, and that is a sure bet.

Yes, and if they had backed Sean Quinn at least 1000's more people wouldn't be on the dole, his company would be flourishing under his control and he would be able to pay back his debt. What have we now? A company that is floundering, a debt which can't be repaid, 1000's more employees facing the prospect of losing their jobs, a community ruined and a good man's name sullied.

Or the difference in Sean Quinn and Ivan Yates - we get saturation coverage of the overturning of the NI bankruptcy when the difference to the taxpayer is nil, yet when Ivan Yates the same week announces he's moving to Wales to declare himself bankrupt it doesn't even get picked up anywhere other than in his local paper.
Some completely unrelated facts about Ivan Yates:
Good mates with most of the Fine Gael front bench having been touted as a party leader 10 years ago.
Sits comfortably inside a wide media circle having written editorials for numerous national papers and currently presents newstalk.
