AT LEAST JOHN BOWE WILL HAVE TO ANSWER SOME QUESTIONS NOW

Everybody in Ireland has heard of the infamous John Bowe from the Anglo Tapes that were released by the Irish Independent earlier this year.

People familiar with the Quinn/Anglo story would already have been familiar with his name. He was the executive in Anglo who was the chief liaison with representatives of the Quinn family. He was the person who attended the thirty meetings with these representatives in the year leading up to the takeover of the Quinn Group. He was the person who had these representatives convinced that he was acting in good faith, and that he, and the bank wanted to reach an amicable resolution. He was the person who sat at each of those meetings knowing that whilst he was stating that they wanted to reach a resolution, plans were already in motion to take over the company.

It was interesting that the new board of Anglo, who have consistently professed to be so different from the old "contaminated" board retained the services of Mr Bowe, so were obviously impressed with his power to portray the required message. I'm sure though that they were relieved that he had found himself a better position by the time that the Anglo Tapes were revealed. It is quite striking that he chose to leave, and was not pushed.....
