Anglo endorsements

I am ignorant of the workings of the financial world but, about I was recently asked: "Who are — or were — Anglo Irish Bank?"
I find the internet a useful aid. I thought I might share some of its information with you: In Jan 2007, Oliver Wyman named them as "the best bank in the world" in a report to coincide with the World Economic Forum in Davos. As late as 11 days before nationalisation in 2009, Merrill Lynch said they were "financially sound" (this after receiving a fee over $11m).

Are Wyman and Merrill Lynch any wiser than I? Can we (the State and taxpayers) sue either or both of them for misdirecting us?

Sean Quinn has been heavily criticized for believing that ANglo was a viable bank but clearly he was not the only one to be conned.
