An agreement put in place between transport and logistics company CEVA and the former Quinn Group, rebranded Aventas, regarding the haulage side of its business has been cancelled.
The news was confirmed by an Aventas spokesperson late this afternoon, Tuesday, April 1.
The spokesperson said the deal, which was announced back in February this year in which CEVA would maintain the transport and logistics side of Aventas operations has now been cancelled.
The spokesperson said the the company management would not be making any further comment at this time.
It comes just days after the CEVA business premises in the Waterfront Business Park in Little Island, Cork, was subject to a ram attack, similar to those which have taken place along the border and affected Aventas operations in recent months.
Gardai in Cork are investigating the possibility that the petrol-bomb ram raid on the CEVA business premises on the outskirts of the city last Friday night may be linked to ongoing targeted attacks on former Quinn Group property locally.
The alarm was raised last Friday evening after a Transit van was driven at speed through the gates of the CEVA Commercial unit. Gardaí and several units of the Cork City fire brigade were called to attend the scene where the found the crash vehicle ablaze in the yard area to the front of the unit.
The van was completely gutted in the incident though building was undamaged. There were no injuries reported.
The van, it is understood, had been loaded with a flammable substance prior to been set alight.
While gardaí have said they are still trying to establish a motive for the attack in Cork, they have refused to rule out the possibility that it is linked to ongoing troubles affecting the Aventas Group here in Cavan and Fermanagh.
If a link is formally established, the Cork fire can be added to a growing list of acts of aggression which have seemingly targeted management and operations of Aventas Group.
Only last month, a car was crashed and burned out at the entrance to the Quinn Packaging entrance near Ballyconnell where fire units from Ballyconnell and Belturbet called to bring the blaze under control.
Previous to that a large 52-seater bus bearing a sign saying 'Paul O’Brien, Diaster Tours, Leaving Soon' was also set alight at the same location in January, while the Aventas Group headquarters was also targeted when a loaded petrol tanker was reversed into the property and also set alight.
Management at Aventas and former Quinn Group owner, Seán Quinn himself and his family have repeatedly called on whoever is responsible to stop attacking property.
