Spanish Buyer Stay In Your Own Broken Country Stop Grabbing

UPROAR IN BORDER COMMUNITIES TONIGHT AS WORKERS AND RESIDENTS EXPRESS OUTRAGE.
CIC is inundated with calls tonight from outraged workers and community representatives all of whom are beyond furious that despite a solid bid from a local consortium to buy Quinn Glass, an outsider has been named as the preferred bidder. Preferred by whom? Do these vultures not recognize that after the support for the QBRC purchase of the CIS part of the Quinn Group that a local buyout is the only viable option that is acceptable to workers, community and business associates.
We also received the following email this evening from a concerned local person who clearly feels very strongly about this unacceptable latest blow to our communities.
"As an elderly Derrylin resident I was totally shocked to be told by a worker from glass that Adrian Curry announced that Aventas is selling glass, obviously without any consultation with staff or local residents. I have never worked in the Quinn businesses but I fully appreciate what they have brought to a wide area.
I remember in 1996 and the following 2 years going at regular intervals to watch the progress of the building of a “Glass” factory; it was of massive interest to all age groups and no security ever turned us away or blighted our interest. We watched it block by block and some took photographs. In 1998 when it opened, there was no big show—just a few camera men--- but we were so proud. A Glass Factory in South Fermanagh to employ workers from the border regions where Quinn was already employing hundreds! The workforce soon came from all areas of Europe. The whole area was ecstatic.
What has happened since? Greedy, selfish, ignorant, treacherous men of prey have come to destroy our “birthright” and give it to foreigners. They want to close a deal with nameless, faceless people who will in a short time take the business out of Fermanagh and off to their own people. The politicians, who feigned celebration at the creation of jobs, stand idly by and let it happen.
I am old enough, (and older) to remember the armed campaigns in our area of the 50s and the 70s and I certainly do not want to see another one but when visited this evening by a young Glass worker with the “Confidential” memo (that was sent to hundreds) I could sense the anger, frustration and disappointment. I realiZe how this will impact on our whole communities. Even my age group are angry and this cancer will grow and ruin the region. QBRC are in Quinn Group but glass is equally important to us. It is a local product with the renowned “Q” on the bottom. We all feel we have a share in it.
Don't let Quinn Glass go foreign; don't let our young people down; Quinn Glass can provide jobs for generations.

But it is youth that must fight and die.”
